I'd love to see Rossi make an almighty comeback and make miserable Lorenzo eat humble pie. Even if its for just one more year (don't feel he'll make it much beyond another year or two). He's a fun and interesting rider and I wish him the championship.

Rossi will do well as he has a 'raw talent' that can't be bought or lost (i know this coz we share the same talent in riding winkbiggrinbiggrin)

Four titles, 46 GP wins over a 7 yr period, you don't come by those stats without that raw talent smile

Go Rossi!

Some video footage of raw talent at the moto GP

Opps wrong vid wink

Try this one smile

Is that the one where he's trading paint with Stoner?

rossi my all time favorite rider, would love him to win 2013 title, yes think he still has it, but think this is how it will play out when it concludes

Jorge Lorenzo   = winner
Valentino Rossi = 2nd
Dani Pedrosa     =3rd
Cal Crutchlow    = 4th
Stefan Bradl      = 5th

will be interesting to see how bradley smith does too, think he could surprize, good team/ good bike in tech 3 team ,  top 8 finish?

roll on new season, come on rossi!

I've had a few years off avidly following MotoGP cos it's been boring and too much of a procession / predictable outcome. 2013 I think will be a year to begin taking a keener interest again! I think Rossi still has it and will (hopefully) upset the currently boringly-stable apple cart biggrin

Crying shame that Stoner has called it a day, even back on the Yam, i reckon Rossi would have his ass handed back to him on a plate.

I think you could be spot on there Kev, would love to see Rossi come back and dominate as can't praise his talent enough, he needs to get under Lorenzo's skin and rattle him early in the season and he may stand a chance but i think he may be to well settled in the team now for that to happen, should be interestingsmilesmile At least they have both signed for two years so he has two chanceswink

I'm dying for the new season to start with the Doctor back with Yamaha. The problems he's had the last few seasons make Stoner's success on the Ducati all the more impressive and I'm sorry he's left the scene, but Rossi has been my favourite for a long time. I used to love the way he psyched out Gibernau and those final corner clashes were real edge of the seat stuff.
Crutchlow is really coming good, and I hope to see him on the podium this year.
As for Lorenzo, he's a very good rider, but as a person he's a complete twonk. What was all that jumping in the pond etc all about, he just makes himself look stupid. He even had the nerve to give Suzi an unsolicited kiss, even I haven't managed that!
Ooer, I'm having naughty teenage thoughts again!biggrin

Of course he has!

Give him a couple of races and he will be up to speed with Lorenzo. Then the Rossi mind games will start.

Return to the top pleases Rossi

Return to the top pleases Rossi
Sunday, 24 March 2013

Valentino Rossi led the way as the Official Jerez MotoGP Pre-Season Test continued on Sunday. The result marked the first time the nine-time World Champion had topped a session since returning to the Yamaha Factory Racing squad.

Not only was Rossi atop a timesheet for the first time in 2013, but the result also signaled his first P1 finish since opening practice for last years British Grand Prix.

Its not important, but its very important! the Italian smiled in an exclusive video interview with motogp.com. To end the day with the best lap time is great, not just because of the position but also because we modified some of the settings of the bike after the first test to adapt the M1 more to my style.

Its good because I am able to go faster, like Jorge, in all sectors of the lap. For tomorrow, we have a new chassis with some small differences, so both Jorge and I will try it. We hope to be able to improve our level a bit.

The weather remains the prime talking point in Spain. Although the riders would welcome an all-dry final day on Monday, more rain is expected to arrive.

Cal is going to be in the mix for sure, which is even more impressive seeing he's not on a factory bike

Was a good race in Qatar,  1st and 2nd for Yamaha  and didnt he ride well for 2nd place.  Mind you the new guy at honda Marquez is a talent to watch in the future.  and 5th for Crutchlow but with Lorenzo, Rossi, Pedrosa and Marquez in front of him he did well, just in the right place to pick up the place if any one made a mistake.

I'd say he did well to get 2nd. If he'd got off the line and away at the front he may have hassled Lorenzo but think Jorge had quite a bit in reserve so think on this showing, Lorenzo is still the one to beat.

I think they said on the Eurosport coverage that Lorenzo didn't qualify off the front row all last year - that's the sort of consistency Rossi will need to get away with the fast lads at the start, instead of playing catch-up.

Marquez is indeed a lively young rascal - put Pedrosa's nose really out of joint. Top Honda in your first race......and went past Dani on the track fairly(ish).

Didnt see the start, I saw it from about lap 8, Lorenzo already had a 15 second lead over  Pedrosa Marquez and Cruthlow with Rossi about 15 seconds behind them. About lap 15  Marquez pulled a great pass on Pedrosa, crutchlow tried the same but had to run wide to miss the dirty side of the track. Rossi had closed the gap went pass Crutchlow and Pedrosa,  went pass Marquez who then took the place back unti Rossi took it back again on lap 20 ish and was starting to pull away from the Hondas on the final lap.

Would love to see a replay of the start to find out why Rossi was so far behind in the beginning, but he certainly wasnt hanging about at the end

As for Marquez it was some exciting riding, we could be in for an entertaining season

Rossi has a bit of previous re poor starts and going backwards for a few laps. He then seems to hold his place until about mid race, then starts showing how good he is by making up time and places and making for an exciting last few laps. If he could just finish lap 1 in second or third place he'd beat that smug Spanish git every time. Lorenzo is good, but Rossi could psych him out no problem.
