Round here the best enduro tyre is a trials tyre, unless you like falling off a lot.

It all depends what you are doing and where you are riding. If it's just laning you can run a trials tyre all the time with great success the mt43 lasts the longest but doesn't grip as good as a michelin or IRC. For racing I use either a michelin x11 trials or a michelin comp 3 enduro and as they wear they then become my laning or practice tyres.

One thing I can be sure of is that a mitas co2 will never go on a bike I own ever again. It is quite possibly the worst tyre for sale at the moment and is bordering on dangerous on the road ! When they named it the 'stone king' they must have been trying to be ironic !!

Imho I like MT43's in the dryer weather and have tried CO2's which I just don't get on with, mainly as they lack any grip on the wet stone/rocks/tarmac. I've since gone over to MT21's on the rear, as I also do a fair bit of road work at speed, so these fit the bill for me all year round now.

This is only my personal opinion, just like everyone elses on here. Best bet is to try a couple of different tyres as you go along

i use vee rubber enduro tyres which i find good. if your wanting to do enduros chris it must have fim approval. As you know i lane on enduro tyres and manage to stay on. most of the time any way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are after a pure enduro tyre then the best 2 by far for grip are the Michelin Comp 3 or Bridgestone 6 days enduro, my fav is the Bridgestone 6 days.

For green laning round here I favour the X11 trials tyre, absolutley awesome grip on the stones, but any trials tyre is very amusing to ride on in the wet mud, just be gentle and there is grip to be found. biggrin

Bang on gasser. Top choice. I love the s12xc but for road legal the above choices are the best.

Experiment with different back tyres ,see which one suits the terrain, your bike and riding style. If you get it wrong ,put it down to experience and move on.But with the front, take it alot more seriously. When you lose grip on the back you usually just spin up,when you lose grip on the front you are going to hit the ground. My choice for the front is a Metzler 6 days Extreme.Best tyre I've used .Good price and wear rate.

tyres are meant to be made of rubber not moulded out of old ice cream tubs, they may last well but they don't grip fook all

Tyres my favourite subject and I'm in a chatty mood so here is my bit

I can go around a mx track with branded a mx tyre and get lapped by someone using a slick on both wheels ,

On the lanes i use the mt43 due to being road legal , good off road and there cheap

Above all they do little damage to the lanes

Damage to the lanes! A horse will do more damage to the lanes than a bike. C02s are Trf tyres same as mt 43 nastys! They last a age but they are crap. Old tech. Mt43 is such a old design. Great if u want them to last but just crap. Unless your plodding!! Then it just doesn't matter. Lol. To me the front is where it's most important. See Kyle at pro tyre exeter Get all mine from him and he's spot on. And Martin the fitter.

Well  going from the original post,

i like the C02 for ENDURO riding, great on an ENDURO course.   not great on the road, but who asked about that?!

for me i always run a V rubber 211 on the front and a pirelli scoprion mx on the rear.   or a c02 for off season riding

going back to the original question

'What to people rate as the best enduro tyre my bike is needing a new tyre. All suggestions welcome '

A mitas c02 or a mt43 cannot be the described as 'the best enduro tyre' at all as neither of them are enduro tyres and neither can be described as the best of anything as they are both budget.

Not the best place to put this sort of comment on a open forum for all to see pmsl. 80mph? have you got your own track?. no way do the trf hardcore go anywhere near 80mph apart when the pasite shop is closing. Tarmac riding is for girls and poofs. i agree on tarmac its the best for drifting on but not a fan when blasting the lanes i like to have at least a bit of grip. co2 is fine if you want to buy one tyre every 4 years but me im happy to buy a few a month if it gives me grip.

So.....how about an AC10 chaps? Good alternative? Don't hold back now....but are they the mustard or what? Preferred important front is a Dunlop mx31 and cuts through s###e and grips , anyone tried one of those pathetic trials tyres that last loads on the front? You'll need balls for that eh mental

mud is knobbly tyre and rocky is block pattern,,99% of the time its the rider not the tyre its been proven many a time ,
it helps a lesser rider to have a newer tyre for the purpose

and this from a tyre seller? its the confidence that a new tyre gives that i like and with that comes speed and improved everything its better to have new or decent tyres than blingy crap. The braking is what i like most with fresh tyres

Type tyre in the search box on the top RH side  bud - loads of threads and opinons......

Seriously it all depends on where you ride.

I am talking off road tyres here
Just saying that us lesser riders dont use the tyre to its max,
if you have a new tyre and cant get up a hill/rock a better rider can do it on a well worn tyre

Speed
Would a new tyre give you the confidence to jump a 50 ft triple or go through a deep 100m long rut at 50mph

Blingy crap bike???? Mine? Maybe but I also spend a fortune on the working parts and tyres. Back to tyres. I would heed what people say about tyres. It makes lots of difference. The min I changed mine from ****e to good it made a world of difference to the feel of the bike. Metz 6 days front and rear I would go trying to be legal beagle. The you can do proper enduros on them to.

Trials tyres need to be run at low pressure to get the best out of them. An MT43 is not the best trials tyre in the world - you wont see any at a trial - but for laning in this part of the world they are plenty good enough. If you use tubes then you dont want less than 10psi in the back or your going to pinch it or rip the valve out. I've got a Tubliss one of my wheels, I generally run it at 4psi, and its a different animal altogether at that pressure - grip comes in a different way, the tyre moulds itself round whats underneath it. I've never used a proper trials tyre on my enduro bike, but I imagine its even better. Higher gears and low revs are the way forward. Lots of noise and wheelspinning doesnt help at all.

I've got a 6 days metzeler on my other wheel, seems ok, specially in the muddy stuff. I'll probably get another Michelin comp 4 when that wears out
I've not tried one, but a Maxxis Xit seems to be well liked by those that use them. Big chunky tyre that grips well and lasts long enough. Not FIM approved tho, so no good for some events.

For non road legal then the S12 is best for me, I think.

Michelin trials tyres are softer and provide far better grip than the MT43. The crossply Michelin Competition works very well as a trail/enduro tyre. Not good for motorway use but that isn't the point as it will get you up any lane with 10-15 psi pressure.
Grip is worth paying for but unless you compete and have very deep pockets (or stupidly indulgent parents) or are very anal about it, you won't notice the difference once the edges have been taken off. Lasts 2.5k on my CRM or 3.5k on the lesser powered CCM.
Making the aquaintance of a serious trials rider is an option as many throw away tyres once the edge has been taken off, although 9/10 of the tread is still there, but the radial X11 they favour is a nightmare on tarmac and crabs sideways on corners unless it has so many psi in it as to negate its grip.
The trials tyre on the front allows you choices denied to knobbly users, like control on rocky descents/climbs of which there are plenty round here. Requires more care on muddy surfaces but I have no problems.

Hi Tim for the lanes i use comp iv on the front and think they are great MT43 mainly on the back depending where I'm going, want to run lower pressures on the rear have you had any issues with the Tubliss system or would you recommend it and can you fit it yourself easily enough?

Easy enough to fit, just follow the instructions and you cant go wrong. Once its in you dont have to touch it again. I've had mine 5 years with no problems. You can buy the component parts as spares, but I've not needed anything yet.

I know 3 or 4 people that use them and they all like them. They are not 100% puncture proof - much better than tubes tho - but you can still ride them flat cos the tyre cant come off the bead.

Sounds about right, on the road the Gas Gas with X11 is like driving a bath of porridge, but on the rock superb, Trials tyres on the front I use them and have had less punctures than with comp 4's as there is a lot more tread protecting the carcass , especially as now when the water has washed away a lot of mud and just left acres of sharp flint.  But then trials is about precision at moderate speed.  Most of the laning I do with the Honda is Comp 4 front and MT43 rear, always a tad wary about the front on broken rock, but the 43 has never let me down in Devon, however go to Dorset with that loverly sticky yellow clay, a splash of water and it doesnt matter what tyre is used the grip is totally dependant on the right hand

A good allrounder used to be the Continental TwinDuro, but these seem to be difficult to obtain Bridgestone do a tyre with a very similar tread pattern which is almost as good it a TW something (Will see If I can Find The Number)
