My first love - show us yours!

Here was mine, not entirely reliable but very loud!

My second love - and I mean the bike!

This is my first motorised personal transport:-

Lambretta LD July 1966.jpg

It's a 1954 Lambretta LD 150, bought for £15 in 1963.

I passed my test on it in April 1963 - first time. This shot was taken July 1966.

In August I bought my second bike, a 1955 Triumph T100, for £17 10/-.

I ran the LD and T100 at the same time and this is a shot of them both taken in May 1967:-

Lambretta T100 May 1967.jpg

I don't have the Lambretta but I still run the T100 and it's never been untaxed since I got it in August 1966.

I love the fact you've had the Tiger 100 since 1966!!

I'll have to see what photos I can dig out, I'll have to get a scanner though, you may be surprised to learn that they are not digital.

1973 after a succession of BSA Bantams, Tiger Cubs and a B35 Combo  The XL250 Motorsport KO  just like the one I hasve just bought to restore

IMG_1121.JPG

Then on to 1975 and the Bonny T120,  a pile of hassle of the first order,  Clipons however are a thing to be avoided unbraced, couple of times on this I hit the brakes hard to find the clipons now pointing forwards

IMG_1119.JPG

The Hot summer of 1976  and a one year old Commando 850 Roadster, this had the smallest tank of the commandos but looked the best

I know picture quality isnt great but I have had to scan some old photos

My first bike was a KMX 125 in black. 6 months old on a F plate.

I then brought a RD 350LC which I loved. 1980 V plate if my memory is correct?

Clipons, Alex, are a personal thing. biggrin

As a reslt of the original set up I now have extremely long arms and a hunched back. (Joking)

The T100 is in a better condition now and is regularly used in VMCC events each year.

The latest incarnation shows the current colours

Suzuki TS250 77.jpg

I started my exploration of the green lanes of devon on one of these a quarter century ago. Six months from rebuild to rebuild discovering the lanes between Plymouth and Exeter. Loved the Piggery uphill, but first time downhill I met two girls on horses at the bottom of the step and rode straight on into the hedge to avoid them and took fifteen minutes struggling to pull it back out again. Lovely motor in a heavy (but unbreakable) chassis, with crap drum brakes, next to no suspension travel and lights that only showed the road in front at high revs.

Yep from what I remember it was a 1200 or 1400 sport, was my mothers car, went like stink, had it airborne several times over hump back bridges.  Was a tad more reliable than the other version from the rootes chrysler group the good old Hillman Limp urghhh

Here's a scan of some of the actual ones - from left to right:

1) My Vespino moped

2) My C50

3) Me (age 13-14?) on my LI150

4) My mate on his Vespa 90 - lovely little scoot that!

5) My bro (age 15-16?) on his Vespa 150

6) My Austin A35 behind, and my (future) bedroom at back left!

7) The tractor was my dad's MF35 - restored and still going strong as far as I know.

Best in show prize goes to Paul's RD350LC IMHO   My first bike?  A Honda 125 Superdream.  Yes, I know.... disbelief  My best bike?  Well, that depends what mood I was in when riding, but probably my Aprillia RS250 Biaggi Rep which I bought new, mental as f00k and designed to be ridden like you stole it. Which I did.  My GSX-R600 probably comes a close second.

Hi Phil.  I've got an AJS very much like yours.  What happened to your jampot rear shox?  I'd say your is about 1956 because of the Burman box and fluted side panels.
