250 2 stroke race bikes

Anyone here had a project or a fully operational honda nsr or aprilia rs250 or something similar, im seriously tempted to dip my toe in these waters because the bikes are just so sexy and theyl be great for summer. Only problem is theyre just so damn expensive...

Had an RS250 Biaggi rep from new when they were first out.  One of the best bikes I've ever owned.  The group I rode with at the time had Fireblades and ZX9-Rs and so on, they laughed at my little 250, but on the roads round here it was me who was waiting for them   Different story on a long straight though.  In standard trim it would lift the front in second off the throttle and you have to ride it flat to get the best out of it.  The downside it it was a fragile bike as the engine was a tuned Suzuki part and my USD forks seemed to pop their seals for a past time (probably due to the awesome brakes wink).  At 6000 miles, after being ridden hard, it sounded liek a bag of spanners but I'd have another for a track day bike in a heartbeat.

On another bike forum I dip in and out of, a link was posted to a motorcycle museum in the USA, which you can see here.  Better still, they have the RS250 I had there, with the exact same colours and eveything!  It's the 22nd pic down which is this one:

Makes me want to hunt down another!
