Outward appearance utterly irrelevant, CD must work, needs to be loud, sound quality reasonable etc etc.
My CD does all of the above but skips and then repeats itself over and over, then jumps to the next bit and then repeats itself again, then fine for a few minutes, then does it all over again.
My problem is - I cant decide if it is my head or the CD player.
To eliminate this ambiguity I would like to buy a very reasonably priced CD player on which I can play Hendrix, Led Zep etc, keep me cheerful while I mend yet more things that have broken and have made me miserable.
