The programme comes from the uplands of North Cumbria, where Matt Baker meets photographer Ian Lawson, who has spent years snapping the hill shepherds and their sheep, and hears from a farmer who's leaving after a lifetime in the fells. Ellie Harrison hopes to see the strange courting dance of the rare black grouse, meets farmers of the future at an agricultural college and tries dry-stone walling. Helen Skelton witnesses the excavation of one of Britain's largest stone circles and Tom Heap finds out what is being done to tackle illegal off-roading

I think what they meant was "Tom Heap finds out what is being done to help and promote the legal use of unsurfaced roads by trail riders" evileye

Let's hope someone is on there fighting our corner, as we don't do anything illegal. Is the trf involved in this programme?

Im sure Countryfile have covered this subject before a couple of times, maybe it was in the Peak District. With a Countryfile presenter like Julia Bradbury, a now former President of the Ramblers Association and vocal supporter of the  Friends of the Peak District with their anti green laning Take back the tracks campaign, you were sure of a non-biased BBC production, not.

We will see how it comes across this time.

John Craven has done a similar report in the past for countryfile and no doubt this will be the usual BBC anti vehicular stance as previous.

Lady in the peaks made classic statement - 'they should stay on the roads' - well, we do....doh, thats the point.

Keith was good I thought.

Keith was great, love him but if I ever meet that woman on the lanes (Sorry roads) I hope I have a shovel cause I will dig a big pit and bury the Bit*h, she even admitted she was being intolerant of others nodisbeliefblehevileyeevileye

Patricia Stubbs was the "lady" - Peak District Green Lanes Alliance (PDGLA)

See here

Welcome to the Peak District Green Lanes Alliance (PDGLA). We believe that green lanes should be for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and carriage drivers.

At present offroad 4x4s and motor bikes can legally use many green lanes, even if the surface is peat or turf and easily rutted and damaged.

Ancient byways are being destroyed by offroading throughout the Peak District, including inside the Peak District National Park.

The Peak Park and the highway authorities have the power to stop the destruction. They need support, encouragement and, where necessary, pressure from the public to help them do so.

What i loved about this program is later one of the presenters was talking whilst stood on a path, did you see the damage ramblers do ?

Patricia Stubbs is typical on her one sided views of a NIMBY.

Keith came across perfectly, and his point about green lanes being "ROADS" not "off roading"

Her comments on how badly the "Road had lost its flora and Fauna" made me laugh, in the days when that Road was used by all and sundry horse and cart included would be in the same state it in now "USED" for the purpose it was built for. How much Flora and Fauna are dug up and damaged building any modern road or motorway ? loads, do not see our friend Stubbs banging on about these !!

It just proves the old saying that some people should be protected from their own stupidity.

Euthanasia fits the bill.   hmm
