My stolen bikes

Stolen bikes.
My wife wants to put up a financial reward for the return of my bikes and the culprits named here, once convicted.
What is your opinion?
The manner of this theft is such that someone very close to my home is either directly involved or, at least, has passed on very detailed information to those that carried out this theft.
Those of you who know me, know how much my bikes and the riding scene have meant and do mean to me. Over the years I have tried to help anyone with their bike problems, allowed many riders to ride on our track.
I have deliberately never sought any financial gain, happy to put something back into the sport that we all enjoy so much.
It is most upsetting that someone out there, for whatever reason, has caused me so much upset.

nothing wrong for offering a reward , some people will go to more of a effort to find it possibly and it works for crimewatch so it may work for you its not going to hurt, hopefully you will get your bikes back soon

It's a shame that you have to put up  some of your own money as a reward , just to try and get your own property back  that you work hard for , but that is unfortunately the society that we live in . I can understand your anger and frustration that this has caused you . I think you know my feelings on this . I would tend to do the same thing as you . I hope these nob heads get caught and soon

rik,the reward thing sounds good,if it was me that was responsible for there conviction i wouldn't take any money from you or the mrs as a reward,a cup tea would suffice,maybe theres a low-life out there that knows something and will start to drewl abit if theres a reward and spill his guts,so yes a reward is a brilliant idea

I agree with your wife and a reward should be offered if only to bring the thief to justice. As it seems apparent that the thief is close to you and perhaps a lot more bike owners and taken advantage of your trust then their names should be published when convicted as a warning to other owners to beware of them. It would be a modern version of the village stocks. To have carried out or been connected to the theft would make them pariahs in the biking world and they should be treated as such; no mercy!

 Totally agree with this. If a reward helps to find the bikes and lead to a conviction then it could be money well spent, if I could help I would but a cup of tea would do just fine

The really sad thing is (apart from the bikes), if it is not just some random scrots getting lucky, someone you know has done thiscrycrycrycry

Feel for you bud, you must be royally pi**ed off!

I am willing to help as well were possible. As said above,a reward might be a good way of loowering the thiefs out. Second lot of bikes in the area, getting very scared now. This has got to stop, I am fitting some cctv cameras at the moment. If the locks and chains don't stop them at least I will have a good idea of face and vehicle used. All the best on finding your bikes.

What the f**k are the Police going to be able to do - Nothing, and you cant blame them.

unrelated but my shop was broken into and they nicked the charity pots and small amount off us, however police got good fingerprints off the door they entered (kicked in).  anyway heard this week they have been caught and with herion so off to court they are going.  Took 4-5 weeks, won't get any money back but at least they were caught, so hopefully with the evidence you had you may strike it lucky also.  at least I can now put a face to the crime, not local but if they were, at least I'd know who to look out for.  hope you have as much luck as we did, and the police have their details on the database.  will keep looking out for your bikes on the web for you.  many eyes etc

Sorry to hear about your theft.
I would look at it practically, if you post a reward that would be substantially cheaper than buying bikes again, the reward as you say would be on condition of the bikes return etc, lets face it with the apparent light sentencing, getting caught isn't that bad for these scroats, at least if they are named and shamed subsequently they might find it harder to show their faces and we could be on our guards as to who, where and how they operate?
I'd put a tenner in the pot for you anyway if you go that way, not much but better than nothing :)

Trouble is its only another scumbag who would dob in his mate to claim the reward - no decent human being wants or should need a reward to do the right thing.....I would happily put some money up as Lewis suggests to help - but am not keen on rewarding scum....

BTW considering we (as far as I know) have never met - 2 mins on the keyboard and I now know your name, DOB, address and can get a lovely birds eye view of your gaff, I know who else lives there, that you had bikes, 3 dogs, if you have any CCJ's - I can also look at the deeds to your property and if I spent a bit more time I'm sure I could find a lot more - inc plans of your property if you have ever made a planning application.....As I said on the other thread the web is such a mine of info Sad, Sad world that someone you trusted has done this (or at least passed on info) - I woke up and stopped running rides starting at my house (stupid to do so anyway I know) and am very careful about who I let round, and also what converstaions and who I have them with about my mates bikes etc......

Some of the stuff my kids and workmates etc put on social media bemuses me - they seem to treat it as a conversation between themselves and forget the world is watching, they also care not who they speak to it seems......I caused a stir on here a good while back as I didn't like the the fact folks were allowed on without us seeing them at a few meetings and getting to know them - no one liked the idea but he whos name should not be mentioned proved the point when he came back on a few times under different names in an attempt to see what was going on. Those vids are so bad - as its just glamorising these idots, who in turn no doubt got the idea from videos from the states and will encourage more idiots to go and do the same.....

Sad and I don't like it one bit - but trust no one - that comes from a lad who grew up out in the sticks, where we never locked out doors and the postman would let himself in to make a brew and the coalman would help himself to his payment from a pot of money left on the side in the kitchen.

Apparently 3 Irish guys have been touring around the Axminster area in a white Transit van. Some MX bikes have been stolen from Hawkchurch. Farm setting. Yard alarm went off but the deed had been done by the time the guy got out there.

I can't recall the full story but someone else usually parked their van across their entrance but, on the one night they didn't, a couple of MX bikes went missing so they had been watching.

The thefts seem to be in the small hours.

Sounds a very similar MO to Jerry's case.

Keep your eyes peeled guys and get a registration if you can.

Just realised from what jt was saying that if you have access to read this forum you also have acces to some of our personal details, ie name, surname, town. this also would assume we all have a bike of sorts at home. Just done a quick search and easily found address of people on forum, so have now removed my surname, location, dob from personal profile. Suggest others do this asap, let's not make life too easy for s-£&bags in this world.

No one can be certain at this juncture, but the probability is that this forum was the source of the info.
Im old fashioned but my life revolves around people, associated trust or the lack of.
Some will let you down, they are discarded!
Face to face is where it starts, any other method is usually too contrived.
Members may become members after they have attended a meeting or two.
Also a new member should be introduced!
So called "Exclusive" clubs demand it!
We are an exclusive club - Insist on it!

Actually..., based on previous run-ins with "a trouble causer" (read PITA member) it was highlight that the TRF is an inclusive club, not an exclusive club.

This forum is another matter though as it is not the property of the TRF.wink

Sad to hear of the stolen bikes no  In light of all the above - and justified IMHO - paranoia, do officers still share an unencrypted spreadsheet containing member details by e-mail?  That's easily intercepted and would be like a shopping list to the scum out there.  Anyway, I'll shut up as I'm no longer an officer or a member....

I now make sure mine is double locked & chained in the garage & door locked with extra lock - make it as hard as possible is the best you can do.

sadly it will never stop, the scum are everywhere - until the punishment delivered by the courts is a real deterrent it's going to continue to rise.
