Would recommend having a chat with either Docherty flues in Dunkeswell or alternatively Poujolet flues are very good.

Sounds like it is a "Planning" issue rather than building regs etc?
Building regs are fairly straightforward, download and follow them.
Through the floors etc is a pain and costly but probably no choice.
Only suggestion, maybe external brick or render chimney, ie not stainless flue.
From my experience in my area, there are several people who just do it and say **** to it, Im not aware of any of their work coming down again.
I dont agree with it but it seems the way to go.

This will be a planning issue and may even be at the whim of the inspector rather than council policy so perhaps you could challenge it?

There is a precedent for external flues in South Hams as I once considered buying a part-converted barn outside Stoke Gabriel. In the end I thought the work involved (including building an approach road through a wood) was too great but, moving forward a few years, I had cause to revisit the now completed property and the owner had installed a wood burner feeding a double-skinned, stainless steel flue running up the outside wall.

Will your flue be visible from the road? I ask because the Stoke Gabriel property is very remote and not overlooked so that may have been a factor in it having been granted. Of course, the assumption is he gained planning permission for it smile
