Anybody recommend someone who can straingten the wheels out on my Xr200. I tightened the spokes and seemed to have turned the wheels into something that resembles 50p pieces.... Cheers. Sean

It is not particularly difficult to straighten a wheel that is out of true using a spoke spanner.

Unless you have one of those clever jigs with adjustable pointers your swinging arm or forks will suffice to hold the wheel while it turns and a couple of cable ties on either side of the wheel with the ends near to (but not touching) the rim will reveal which way the wheel is off centre when the wheel is turned.

Turn the wheel by hand slowly while watching the gap between the rim and the pointer until you are sure which section of the wheel is out of true then first slacken the spokes on one side and next tighten those opposite to move the rim over, then recheck. It is usually only a few spokes that need attention. Keep repeating the process until the offset is less than 2 mm and hey presto.

Be methodical and patient and it should not take very long at all as a quarter or half a turn on the spokes will move the rim across quite a way.

It took about a half hour to straighten the rear wheel of a work mates bike that had one broken spoke that made him think he had a puncture, and it was not necessary to remove the tyre to fit the new spoke which cost the princely sum of £4

 I am sure David used John Tremlett Motorcycles Ashburton.

Not sure if he has got them back yet as the rims are coming from Central wheel company , wrong size, bad plating, last was wrong number of holes.
