Husquvarna TE 410


Bit of advice please guys, looking at possibly getting rid of my XR 250 to get something with electric start.

 

Have been offered a sensibly priced Husquvarna TE 410 2001.

 

Any thoughts on what these are like?

Is this the one on market place in Paignton ? Nice clean example, i had the 610 version back in the day, they are a little on the heavy side. Parts might be an issue going forward. Have a good listen to the motor once its warmed up there should be no rattles etc unlike the modern stuff. The suspension linkage is somewhat neglected on these bikes see if the grease nipple conversion has been done. Take the seat off and check the top of the shock for any cracks. As there is not sump bash plate fitted check the lower frame rails and engine cases for any damage.

Hi

Yes it is the one in Paignton, seems a nice bike but just feel maybe it's not the best option long term.

I do love my XR just after coming off twice yesterday and dealing with a kick-start in a narrow rut got me thinking maybe I should get something with an electric start.

Any recommendations would be appreciated if anyone on here has anything for sale.

I have been looking at ttr's and drz, etc but there is very little around, and what is around seems to be very expensive at the moment, or do I go against my gut and look at Ktm's

Bikes are up in value at the moment but XR's are doing well too, so if you're buying & selling it should equal out.

I understand you not wanting to have a bike without an electric start though, I wouldn't now either.
I think if I was buying a used bike now it would be just the main brands.

Yammy WR250/450
Honda CRF250/450
KTM 250/350/400/450
Kawasaki KLX450
Suzuki RMX450Z

But if buying a KTM I'd try to find a bike that has just been used as a trail bike and not a competition/enduro machine.

This is most helpful, thanks for the reply. I will see what pops up, the XR will be on the market then, any idea what i should expect to get for it.

 

its a 2003 XR250R with 11000 kms and a new MOT, good bike with no issues at all?

No idea sorry.
I haven't really been watching specific bike prices, just looking broadly across the market.
I looked recently at what people were asking for DRZ's and was shocked.

This looks like it sold recently on ebay and might be similar, when I clicked on the add it didn't appear to be there so maybe ebay is having 'a moment'.

I bought a GasGas FE 450 after I killed my XR250. It was a massive step up power wise, but also a complete money pit.

Broke it for parts, and got a new GasGasEC 300.

Hopefully you have done a lot of research on the appropriate forums.

I would stick with the XR with more laning experience stalling and falling off happens less, plus parts for the XR are still easily obtainable.
