Can anyone advise on 192 - 295. I gather that it is legal but that there is some sort of dispute on the bridge at the bottom .
Also In looking at the devon legal lanes I notice that many are labeled with a commentary. Longer commentary is cut short (it just finishes with '(more)'. How do you open that box to read the whole comment.
Great lane to ride. Cleared by TRF members in summer of 09' but there is a dispute over the use of the bridge at the southern end (the last 20 foot) so please ride and turn around and enjoy the ride back north. Not for the novice rider, when you reach half way down the second half is tricky but do-able.
Filmed before I knew of the dispute over the bridge which was constructed for and leads to Brook House whose owner objects to our using it, there is as you can see no other viable way across the water.
Hopefully someone else will describe how to read the whole commentary

I'm not familiar with the lane, or the exact location of 'the bridge', but members have said that the bridge is on the exact route of the public highway.

Should really update the overlay comment to suit the green road of 'Millhayes' yes a few willing Devon TRF volunteers cleared the road back in 09' and yes the lady (cant remember her name) of the house came out with a generally polite manner explaining that the bridge was in ownership by them at 'Brook house'
She also asked me at the time if we were from the naughty boys community service program as they were the last ones to clear the millhayes, NO I replied
Several months later after chatting to Bozz with the idea to turn the situation on its head and let the owners say or prove why we can't ride or use the Bridge
Also there is evidence on the legal mapping of the bridge being partly on the legal line of 1 metre width, so if you ride close to the railings on the left (same direction as in Pete's video) there should not be a problem
Many riders have used this road since 09' I haven't heard of any issue's with the Gordon's at the house (see I remembered their name, I think)
The lower end of the road with the steep gully has been filled in' by the farmer making the terrain one wide slope, although with recent rains and bike use this could be a slot again up the bank.
The BIGGEST problem will be overgrowth in the top half of the road, don't expect it to be like the video

When I come to read the overlay comments it is as if the box is too small and won't show the whole message. Is the box expandable.?
How are you trying to read the overlay comment Mike?
Try putting your cursor in the comment box and moving the cursor to the right with your keyboard arrow.
However on some devices, the comment boxes only have a certain number of character spaces available, so you won't get to see all the text, if the description is long.
The note on the overlay confirms that the bridge is on the route. We got a copy of the land register plan and compared it with our list of streets mapping and from memory, the upstream half of the bridge deck sat on the downstream half of the UCR as shown on LoS. So as Wacky says a legal route approx 1m wide on the upstream side
Highways do not object to improvments to public ways but you cannot claim its now your private way as a result of the improvement. Have we been nimby'd out of using this route by the natives.

Well done Nick, yes keep using the lane and riding over the bridge, just do not hang about. The chap who used to live in the mill used to give us grief because he was afraid we might bring the ford back in use. The ford next to the bridge is partly still there.

I am on memory map. I think the comment boxes must be of limited size . I have tried using the arrow keys and the commentary is limited to the same as the box that automatically shows when hovering the curser over a specific lane. Ill have a look to see if there are settings that can be changed.
I have a way to view the whole comment if you look via the main menu.
In Overlays menu select 'Properties', then a new window should open with lists in.
It will be something like.
Devon Lane Labels Waypoints
Open up the Waypoints list and scroll down to the lane number you're interested in, and click on it (either of the two will work). Once selected its full comments should be displayed in the right hand box now.
You can do a similar thing from within the 'Devon' list. Select the lane and then in the box in the right hand screen will be a list of the waypoints, double click on one of those and it will take you to where I described above, which might be a quicker way of finding it.
Perhaps an easier way to see the whole comment is to refer to the spreadsheet that I send out as part of the overlay pack. I supply this as an aid to such enquiries and to encourage feedback to keep them current.
